2008 PLANNING PROPOSAL
The original Emirates Driving Centre serves as the official place for the issuance of licences and a training centre for crane and heavy machinery operators. A drivers’ dormitory stands as an annexe to the centre. The proposal for the new city will include a hotel, recreational areas, shopping malls and a Children’s Driving City. An architectural highlight will be the introduction of the Eco-Canopy that shall provide ventilation, shade and cooling functions to the development. The design takes on a free form with soft corners to evoke fluidity and ensure consideration to children safety. The overall scheme shall feature integrated environmentally sustainable functions to reduce consumption of energy and water, and induce waste recycling.
